Designing your 4D Number Plates
4D number plates are made from the highest quality of premium 3mm acrylic, giving them a raised 3D profile from the number plate. When designing your new 4D plates, you can select from any of the features below:
- Required Plates – Select if you require front and rear 4D number plates or just a single front or rear for your car.
- Size Required – Majority of the cars in the UK have standard size number plates, however you may wish to upgrade your 4D plates to a shorter size. If you have a Range Rover, Bentley or other 4x4 you might need an Oversized Plate (21x6). We also cater for Jap/Import vehicles aswell. If you are not sure which size you require, one of our sales assistance would be more than welcome to help you select the correct size for your 4D number plate.
- Side Badge – If you would like a side badge, one of our sales assistance would be more than welcome to help you with badges for your 4D number plate.
- Fitting Kit – At Sweven Plates we offer both sticky pads or screw pack for fitting your new 4D plates. We do recommend using Sticky Pads as screws can damage the gel on your plate. If you would like assistance with fitting, one of our sales assistance would be more than welcome to help you with the correct fitting kit for your 4D number plate

Documents I need to send
In order to purchase the 4D number plates for your vehicle, we need to see proof of ownership and proof of ID. You can provide us with the following:
- Proof that you are the owner using either the V5C (Logbook) or V5C/2 (New Keeper Slip - Green), V750 (Certificate of entitlement) or the V778 (Retention Certificate).
- A form of ID which proves your full name and identity, such as your Driving license, Passport, recent Bank Statement or a recent Utility bill
All documents are securely checked for legality purposes and to ensure we meet the legal standards. We will only hold these records securely for as long as it is required.

Are 4D Number Plates Road Legal & MOT Compliant?
At Sweven Plates our 4D number plate designs 100% Road Legal and comply with the new British Standards (BSAU145e) All our road legal number plates are marked with the Supplier Name, Supplier Postcode and the British Standard Code. Our 4D plates are made with the correct font, colour and meet all the legal requirements.
4D number plates are MOT Compliant and are road legal which means they meet all the specifications required for your number plates as part of the MOT. If your 4D plates have the wrong spacing, font or colour then your MOT will fail. That's why it is our duty at Sweven Plates to ensure your car passes MOT and your new 4D plates are fit for road use.
What are the Different Sizes you offer for the 4D Number Plates?
As we are bespoke number plate makers, we have the largest range of sizes for your new 4D number plates. All our different sized 4D number plates meet the legal requirements and meet the new BSAU145e British Standards. Please find all the stock sizes we have to offer below:
Standard Size 4D Number Plates (520mm x 111mm): Majority of the vehicles on the roads have standard sized number plate. This is ideal for any registration up to 7 characters.
Short (13.5") 4D Number Plates: If your registration has 5 characters or less on the number plate then the 13.5" is the shortest legal possible.
Short (16") 4D Number Plates: If your registration has 6 characters or less on the number plate then the 16" is the shortest legal possible.
Short (18") 4D Number Plates: If your registration has 7 characters or less on the number plate then the 18" is the shortest legal possible.
Square 4x4 (11"x8") 4D Number Plate: Some 4x4 vehicles have the square plate on the rear such as the older model Land Rover Discovery or Defender. Other manufacturers such as Mitsubishi also use the square size rear number plate.
Range Rover (21"X 6) 4D Number Plate: Majority of Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Vogues have the 21"x6" Number Plates. It is not only Range Rover that have the oversized plate but other SUVs such as Bentley, Jaguar and Rolls Royce also use this size for the rear plate.
Jap/Import 4D Number Plates: If your vehicle is imported the size of your number plates may differ to the standard sizes in the UK. We stock a range of Jap/Import sizes such as 13" x 7", 13"x6.5" and also the 12" x 6". Upon ordering please leave a note in the checkout which size you require.
Hex 4D Number Plates: We have introduced the new Hex style number plates at Sweven Plates. This is ideal for most Lamborghini vehicles such as the Urus and Aventador or other high performance vehicles. We offer a range of sizes in the Hex style, to make it suitable for your registration. What does the 3 Year Warranty cover on 4D Number Plates?
All our 4D number plates come with a standard 3 Year Warranty. As we use the highest quality of components we can offer this service to ensure our customers are at ease and save you from buying again. The warranty covers any issues with the 4D Number Plate lettering, or if there any issues with the reflective or acrylic of your 4D number plates.
Note: The warranty will not cover any plate which has been drilled through or close to the 4D plate lettering as the 4D characters are delicate, it can cause the lettering to get damaged. We always recommend that you use the sticky pads provided or purchase some more sticky pads for a better piece of mind.
What are the estimated Delivery times?

Under normal circumstances, we dispatch your 4D number plates the same working day if you have ordered before 2pm. as First Class Recorded Delivery via Royal Mail. 3D Gel Number Plates are made from high quality premium domed gel resin characters, giving them raised profile from the number plate. At Sweven Plates each 3D Gel character produced is UV resistant, contains a High Gloss Piano Black finish and is jet wash friendly. The 3D Gel is handcrafted with a Black finish, to make your bespoke 3D Gel number plate sleek!
Can you make me a Bespoke 4D Number Plate size?
With our CNC routing technology, there is not a size of 4D plates which we cannot create. As we use a CNC router to cut our number plates, the corners are rounded and the edges are smooth just as you would expect with any other size 4D number plate size we offer.
